An unwavering dedication to blasphemy and their own vision of the extreme, tireless touring and a steady stream of recordings have helped Sweden's MARDUK become one of Scandinavia's best-known bands and one of the seminal names in black metal.
MARDUK was formed in 1990. Bandleader and guitarist Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson started the now Swedish legend as a death metal band with black influences, but an early departure to the extreme side of black metal with relentlessly fast drumming and distinctive melodies put MARDUK on the map.
Over the course of their 30+ year existence, the Swedish quartet has not been deterred by the various controversies often associated with their war themes and anti-Christian ideas, and in 2018 recorded "Viktoria", a raw black metal album harking back to the old school of black metal.

Their fifteenth and final album to date, "Memento Mori", was released in 2023.
