First time at Basin
The British doom/gothic metal ensemble High Parasite has been shaping their vision of a melancholic genre they describe as "Death Pop" since 2021. The band was founded by Aaron Stainthorpe, the vocalist known from My Dying Bride. His distinctive voice is complemented by bassist, vocalist, and songwriter Tombs, co-creator of the band’s dark and pulsating core. The lineup is rounded out by Sam Hill (rhythm guitar), Jonny Hunter (lead guitar), and Dan Brown (drums), who bring both life and power to the band’s music. High Parasite’s sound blends unsettling melodies, crushing riffs, and ethereal electronic elements.
In 2025, High Parasite released the single "Cold," accompanied by a music video. Lyrically, the song is inspired by Plato’s Allegory of the Cave and explores themes of solitude and taking responsibility for one’s actions.
