Distant is a deathcore band originally from Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Bratislava, Slovakia, formed in 2014. The band was founded by bassist Elmer Maurits and guitarist Nouri Yetgin, who joined forces to create music synonymous with extreme intensity and brutality. Since their inception, Distant has established themselves as leaders in the downtempo deathcore subgenre, blending heavy riffs, dissonant melodies, and aggressive beatdown elements. Their sound is characterized by deep guitar tones, pounding drums, and vocals ranging from growls to screams.

In 2023, they released their third studio album, Heritage, through Century Media Records, which was widely praised for its complexity and power. This was followed in 2024 by Tsukuyomi: The Origin, a reworked version of their 2017 EP, featuring guest appearances from notable artists such as Alex Erian of Despised Icon, Matt Heafy of Trivium, David Simonich of Signs of the Swarm, and Travis Worland of Enterprise Earth. Distant is known for their energetic live performances and toured North America in 2023 alongside Left to Suffer, Justice for the Damned, and Cabal. Their music is not only a sonic experience but also a narrative unfolding within their own dark universe.
