Although the Swedish outfit AVIANA draws inspiration from classic '90s nu-metal, their sound is a powerful blend of progressive metal, djent, and metalcore. Rooted in current trends and modern production technologies, their music embodies everything you’d expect from contemporary core/metal—while their futuristic outlook keeps surprising and engaging listeners with every track.
AVIANA first made waves in Scandinavia with their debut Polarize (2017). Even after a complete lineup change, they captured the attention of the global metalcore scene—a spotlight they’ve kept firmly fixed on them through their 2022 album Corporation and the Storm Ablaze three-song single, released in early 2025.
One of the defining features of the band is their striking, almost theatrical visual identity that perfectly complements their sound. Since 2022, frontman Joel Holmqvist has been joined on stage by three masked musicians performing under the aliases "Death," "Fear," and "Dark"—dressed entirely in black with their faces obscured. This aesthetic amplifies the dark, introspective atmosphere of their music and keeps the focus on the art rather than the individuals behind it.
