A legendary force that defined domestic thrash metal and paved the way for generations of heavy music to come is returning to Basinfirefest. For over four decades, Arakain has been synonymous with precise musicianship, razor-sharp guitar riffs, and anthems that literally run through the veins of Czech rock fans. Unlike many of their peers from the 1980s, the band has never stalled in pure nostalgia, consistently proving that their engine still runs at full speed today.
While the band's early era was heavily influenced by the classic thrash metal wave in the vein of early Metallica or Slayer, Arakain quickly developed their own, highly distinctive signature sound. It is built on aggressive rhythmics, sophisticated guitar duels between Jiří Urban and Miroslav Mach, and melodic vocals that give the songs a massive arena feel. Albums like Thrash The Trash (1990) and Schizofrenie (1991) are now considered cornerstones of Czech rock history, with tracks like "Amadeus" or "Pán blesků" requiring no introduction.
