When power metal is mentioned, most fans picture dragons, elves, or medieval battles. Italy's Wind Rose approached things a bit differently—from the bottom of a mine shaft. Since their formation in 2009, they have carved out an entirely niche, yet all the more entertaining subgenre: dwarf metal. Instead of noble heroes in polished armor, they celebrate bearded miners, heavy pickaxes, and endless forging in the depths of the mountains. And the best part? It works with incredible ferocity.

Musically, Wind Rose combine hymnic, melodic power metal with orchestral bombast and catchy folk motifs. The core of their sound features massive guitar riffs, relentless drums, and, above all, crowd-pleasing vocal choruses that practically demand you raise a beer mug over your head and chant at the top of your lungs. A key element is the charismatic voice of frontman Francesco Cavalieri, who effortlessly handles both operatic highs and a rough, earthy delivery reminiscent of a dwarf warrior roaring on the front line.

Their career breakthrough came in 2019 with the album Wintersaga and the iconic single "Diggy Diggy Hole"—a cover of a famous gaming track that became a viral megahit, racking up tens of millions of plays. However, Wind Rose are by no means just a one-hit internet joke. Subsequent albums Warfront (2022) and their latest release Trollslayer (2024) confirmed that they are a top-tier act.

Live, Wind Rose are an absolute guarantee. Taking the stage in heavy, elaborate armor dripping with sweat, they ignite crowd frenzy from the very first minute. Prepare your vocal cords and sharpen your pickaxes—this is going to be a dwarven raid that will be remembered in Poříčí for a long time to come!
