Prague stalwarts Kurtizány z 25. Avenue have been one of the absolute pillars of the Czech club and festival scene since 1989. Led by guitarist, primary songwriter, and frontman Tomáš Vartecký, the band has built an unshakable reputation thanks to a unique signature style—one where raw, rolling guitar weight and grunge grit naturally meet catchy songwriting and distinctive, often deeply urgent lyrics. Kurtizány were never a group to rely on cheap pop-rock gimmicks; their music has always been built on heavy, down-tuned riffs, a dense rhythm section, and an atmosphere that either immediately absorbs you or rolls right over you.
Over a history spanning more than three decades, Kurtizány have left an indelible mark on Czech rock discography. Cult albums like Ubiquity, Medium, Chemie, and Teorie morfické rezonance defined the sound of domestic crossover and the '90s to early 2000s rock underground. Another key milestone came with Honzíkova cesta, which earned the band a prestigious Anděl Award for 2020 in the Rock category—a clear testament to the enduring power of Vartecký's songwriting after decades on the scene.
Kurtizány z 25. Avenue arrive in Spálené Poříčí in peak form with a renewed, seamlessly locked-in lineup. Alongside Tomáš Vartecký, bassist Jan Rupprich and drummer Marek Macháček anchor the heavy rhythm section.
My z konce světa. New album. New shows. Kurtizány are back.
