The Exploited will perform at Basinfirefest 2027!
05.10.2026
Basinfirefest's line-up is expanded by Scottish street punk legends The Exploited!
When talking about British punk, few bands pack the raw and uncompromising energy of Scotland’s The Exploited. Formed in 1979 by frontman Wattie Buchan after his stint in the army, the band stood at the very epicentre of the UK punk's second wave, defining a genre that refused to play nice. Their 1981 debut album Punks Not Dead served as a manifesto for an entire generation and rocketed straight to the top of the independent charts.
The Exploited, however, never stayed tied to one formula. While their early days captured the gritty spirit of street punk and Oi!, they steadily ramped up the aggression, fusing their sound with heavy thrash metal elements. Records like Troops of Tomorrow (1982) and the crushing Beat the Bastards (1996) proved that guitar-driven aggression transcends strict genre borders. This heavy edge earned them profound respect across the metal scene, inspiring heavyweights like Slayer and Nirvana. Live on stage, The Exploited remain an untamed force of nature, driven by Wattie’s iconic red mohawk and an unrelenting drive to incite chaos. Anthems like "Punks Not Dead," "Dead Cities," and "Sex and Violence" cut straight to the core of loud, rebellious rock music that will shake Basinfirefest right to its foundations.
