ATREYU, named after the main character from the fantasy The Neverending Story, originated in Southern California during the rap-metal explosion at the turn of the century. They initially broke up their hardcore with guitars and vocals that gave their material a distinct metalcore feel, which they eventually really moved towards with their contemporary post-hardcore and alternative metal expression and melodies.
Until recently, the last entry on the band's account after the change of vocalists was the excellent album "Baptize" (2021), currently replaced by the new album "The Beautiful Dark of Life".
